Benton County and the City of Sartell have developed construction plans that include the replacement and upgrade of City-owned utilities and reconstruction of the CSAH 29 (1st Street NE). Improvements are needed to replace the failing pavement surface and provide a left-turn lane to reduce congestion. In addition the intersection of CSAH 29 and CSAH 33 (Benton Drive) will receive operational improvements in the form of a traffic signal.
The County hired SRF Consulting to prepare the construction plans for the County portion of the project. The City of Sartell used their Consulting Engineer, SEH to prepare the construction plans for the City-owned utilities that will be incorporated into the project. The funding for the project is coming from the County’s State Aid (gas tax) allocation. The City is funding their portion of the project with local funds.
Beginning Monday May 14th, 2018, CSAH 29 (1st St NE) in Sartell will be reduced to one lane only from CSAH 33 (Benton Dr) to 14th Ave E (approximately 1,000 feet west of MNTH 15). A signed detour will be in place to direct westbound traffic. The one lane road closure is anticipated to extend through most of the summer.
Access to homes and local businesses will be open during the road closure.
