The Emergency Management Office is responsible for working towards hazard mitigation, preparing for, responding to and recovering from all disasters and emergencies in the county. This includes, but is not limited to, acts of nature such as flood, fire and severe weather, as well as industrial accidents and terrorism events. The Emergency Management Office maintains the Emergency Mobile Communications Trailers.
The Emergency Management Office works closely with state and federal agencies, such as the Minnesota Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). They also work with neighboring jurisdictions and the cities and townships within the county.

Flooding
03/24/2009 - County residents who have flooding concerns should contact their City Emergency Manager if they live within a City and the County Emergency Manager (968-8105) if they live in the unincorporated parts of the County.
The Mississippi River is expected to crest sometime Friday above flood stage, but below 2001 levels. Any additional heavy rain would change that and the levels might be higher.
Anyone living on Little Rock Lake who have septic or well issues need to contact the Department of Development.
