BENTON COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
MISSION:
To provide economic development assistance to communities and businesses in Benton County to increase and enhance community resources; and provide opportunities to improve the quality of life for residents.
GOAL: DIVERSIFY THE ECONOMY
Strategy: Attract business that would complement and diversify the economy.
Strategy: Support the agricultural industry to maintain its viability.
Strategy: Encourage entrepreneurship to launch new business ventures.
Strategy: Recruit Alternative Energy, Green Businesses and Green Building.
GOAL: EXPAND THE TAX BASE
Strategy: Assist existing businesses to expand their facilities.
Strategy: Recruit businesses to construct new facilities.
Strategy: Promote and assist in the development of industrial and commercial sites.
GOAL: EXPAND EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
Strategy: Promote and assist in the development of higher paying employment opportunities in order to increase the average workforce wages.
Strategy: Make the best use of our emerging and existing labor force including the senior population.
GOAL: SUPPORT REGIONALLY APPROPRIATE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Strategy: Facilitate and/or participate in regional planning efforts that encourage economic growth and development.
Strategy: Encourage regional efforts that enhance the quality of life in order to attract and maintain quality employers and employees.
Strategy: Support public infrastructure in order to provide business opportunities.
Strategy: Educate the legislature to encourage state economic development resources.
Strategy: Support the Bio-Science Initiative in Central Minnesota.
Strategy: Provide support to retain existing businesses and employment opportunities.
GOAL: CONTINUE TO ENHANCE THE POSITIVE IMAGE OF BENTON COUNTY
Strategy: Continue to provide service to assist developers to work within the structure of the law.
Strategy: Strive to provide better customer service through the use of technology and streamlining processes.
Strategy: Recognize the Role of the County Board and provide policy and program recommendations.
