Midway Iron and Metal, Inc. Celebrates 50 Years in Business.

November 24, 2009 - Members of the Benton County Economic Development Committee (BCEDC) met with owners of Midway Iron to congratulate them on 50 years of business. The provide retail of metal products and recycling of scrap metal. Midway Iron is located at 648 Lincoln Avenue in St. Cloud.

Benton County Proclaims October 26-30 Manufacturers’ Week

At the October 20, 2009 Benton County Board meeting, Chair Jim McMahon proclaimed the week of October 26-30 as Manufacturers’ Week in Benton County. Manufacturers’ Week was created to celebrate and educate the public about the importance of the manufacturing industry.

 

A key element in any community is creating a high standard of living and quality jobs, which a strong manufacturing base gives. It provides high skilled, high wage jobs. These jobs significantly contribute to Benton County’s high standard of living and economic vitality.

 

In 2008 there were 88 manufacturing employers in Benton County providing 4,513 jobs. In 2008, manufacturing provided $17.9 billion in wages for the state and $201 million in Benton County. This is 37 of the total wages in Benton County. Nine Benton County manufacturing companies contributed $116,825 to the United Way of Central Minnesota to improve the quality of life for residents of Benton County.

 

The county would like to extend its appreciation to all of the manufacturing businesses that operate and grow their businesses in Benton County. These companies are an important reason Benton County is a great place to live and work.
