Transportation
Transportation is a primary factor for business location. Benton County offers a variety of transportation options including the potential for future opportunities for transporting people as well as cargo.
Benton County is fortunate to be situated on an excellent State Highway System with Highway 10, 23, 15, 25 and 95. For residents and business in the eastern part of the county State Highway 169 is close by. The county provides a well-maintained road system for access throughout the county.
The St. Cloud Regional Airport provides commuter flights to Grand Rapids and the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport. The airport also provides for private flights. The airport and local jurisdictions are currently working to encourage the expansion of the Minneapolis/St. Paul cargo flights to locate in St. Cloud. The St. Cloud Airport may also be home to the Fort Ripley National Guard Helicopter program.
Although many railroads have been abandoned in the state, Benton County maintains a line. The rail provides for cargo transportation, Amtrak, and it is anticipated that the Northstar Corridor commuter rail service will be added. Benton County has been an advocate for encouraging the commuter rail.
Public Transportation
Residents and employees also have options including taxi service and MTC bus service within the cities of St. Cloud, Sartell and Rice. Bike and walking trails are being considered through the Benton County Park Department and the cities' park departments.
