CSAH 29 Reconstruction
Benton County and the City of Sartell have developed construction plans that include the replacement and upgrade of City-owned utilities and reconstruction of the CSAH 29 (1st Street NE). Improvements are needed to replace the failing pavement surface and provide a left-turn lane to reduce congestion. In addition the intersection of CSAH 29 and CSAH 33 (Benton Drive) will receive operational improvements in the form of a traffic signal.
The County hired SRF Consulting to prepare the construction plans for the County portion of the project. The City of Sartell used their Consulting Engineer, SEH to prepare the construction plans for the City-owned utilities that will be incorporated into the project. The funding for the project is coming from the County’s State Aid (gas tax) allocation. The City is funding their portion of the project with local funds.
WEATHER DEPENDING; A Short Full Road Closure will be in place beginning 10:00 am Thursday, August 2nd, on CSAH 29 (1st Street NE) in Sartell. The road will be closed between the bridge over the Mississippi River and Benton Drive. Benton Drive will remain open to northbound and southbound traffic. CSAH 29 east of Benton Drive will remain open for eastbound traffic. This closure is expected to remain in place until 5 pm Friday, August 3rd.
This closure is necessary for safety purposes. The space constraints and grade differences between proposed and existing do not allow for a safe roadway that protects the traveling public and the workers. The safest alternative is to close the roadway. For additional information follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/bchwy.projects.
