Floodplain Advisory

Flood Plane Image

This is a reminder to all Benton County Residents who live in a floodplain. This year has seen record snow and cold, there have been no early thaws this year and the frost is still three plus feet deep. The ice on the Mississippi River is thick creating a potential for ice jams. All of these conditions point to an above average risk for Spring Flooding this year. If we have normal or above normal precipitation over the next 45 days that will add to the risk.

Residents living around Little Rock Lake in Watab and Langola Townships and the Mississippi River are especially at risk.

You can use the County Interactive Mapping site to see if you live in a flood zone,

Be prepared to protect your property, as a private home or business owner it is your responsibility. Also, either renew or purchase flood insurance. Note: Flood insurance must be in effect for 30 days before you are covered, the window of opportunity is closing.

You can view flood information on the County Web Site at you will find links on where to purchase sandbags and how to sandbag.”
