Stormwater from construction and industrial activities play a large part in the health of the lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater systems we enjoy and depend on. In an effort to protect and preserve these natural resources, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s (MPCA) Stormwater Program regulates and enforces the federal Clean Water Act.
Mandated by Congress under the Clean Water Act, the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Program is a comprehensive national program for addressing polluted stormwater runoff. At the MPCA, the Stormwater Program includes three general stormwater permits:
