As long as you are getting married in Minnesota, you can apply for your license anywhere in the state. A Minnesota marriage license is only valid within the borders of the state of Minnesota.
In Benton County, we require that both applicants come in to apply. As it may take some time to complete the application, we ask that you come in no later than 4 p.m.
Fees
- Regular license is $125
- Reduced rate is $50
- If you have taken a 12-hour marriage course, you may qualify for the reduced rate if you present the proper form.
Requirements
- Valid picture ID for both applicants
- If divorced, you need the date of the divorce, jurisdiction of the court and circuit or district court
Marriage Certificates
Certified copies of marriage certificates are only available in the county where you applied for the license. There is a $9.00 fee.
